Cabin cruising yacht, the Westerly 33 - a watercolour illustration
The Westerly 33, designed by Laurent Giles, was introduced to fill the gap between the W31 and the W36. It was considered one of the finest of Giles Westerly designs, and was one of the last production yachts to be offered as a ketch rig (2 masts) as standard layout. 240 W33s were built between 1977 and 1980.
It was initially offered with an aft or center cockpit, but in 1979 Westerly began calling the aft cockpit version the Discus 33 and only sold the Westerly 33 with the center cockpit.
